To Do List

Do you know how to make an effective To Do List? Are you one of those people that scrabbles around for a bit of paper and then scribbles a few things onto it only to discover later that you've forgotten where the bit of paper is? Worse still you discover it two months later in a pocket or at the bottom of a bag.

Making a little effort with your to do list will make a big difference. If you prepare yourself now then you'll find that life becomes just that little bit easier.

Creating a system for your to do list is pretty easy. Elsewhere in the site we offer some downloadable templates which give you a to do list outline. However it's worth emphasizing it here. I've had feed back from people who don't carry this around with them and frankly find it difficult to be prepared. So my answer is pretty simple. Even if you don't feel able to print out and carry around a few sheets in your pocket or bag then at least take a pad of paper with you.

A pad of paper or a small notebook is all you need to have an effective to do list. It won't help you organise for the longer term but as a simple system there is nothing to beat a blank bit of paper.

To Do List extras

There are a couple of things that you can do to make life easier.

1. Write a page number in the top right hand corner of the page

2. Write the to do item and the date it was written down

3. Write a short description of the outcome you'd like

4. Once it's completed score it out.

Try not to put too many things on the one page. You'll find that as you are working your to do list you'll want to add in little notes so leaving plenty of space is essential. Don't make the to do list cluttered.

A final thought is really obvious but surprisingly it still needs said. You must carry a pen or preferably a pencil with you. If you've a sprial book put it in the spiral spring so that it's always there.

With a bit of preperation getting your to do list under control shouldn't be a problem.
