Time Management
One step at a time!
Time management is something that we do everyday without
thinking too much about it. Yet it's one of the things that people are
always concerned about. I'm sure you've heard the phrases, "where did the time go?" and
"I wish I had more time". Well I think with a few well placed ideas and
techniques you can gain extra time with not too much effort.
So
if you’re feeling stressed or you just want to avoid falling into time traps
you're in the right place. Pull up a computer, get comfy and have a read
of the ideas here.
These tools, techniques and ideas can help you to de-clutter
and focus on getting things done. Whether you're in business or you're just
looking for some ideas to give you more playtime with your kids, there is
something here for you.
So blow away the bluster, stop the hesitation and join me in
getting time management under control.
I thought a good place to start the time management journey would be to put down some of
the thoughts that are often lurking in peoples minds. Things that people
think but are often not very comfortable with saying out loud.

A
lot of people feel they are time poor, well you're not on your own.
I’ve spent
years leading departments with hundreds of people in them and although they
don't talk openly about it, lots of them confide in me that they don't have enough
time. You’re not alone and the good news is you can deal with that feeling
effectively.
A good place to start is in the
time management techniques
section. This is a general section with tips that can fit into most
environments. You should be able to find something that will give you a
good start on your road to success.

It
just feels that way. I’m sure with a bit of thought and perhaps a bit of
reshuffling you can find more free time. Students are often given little or no
guidance on how to manager their time effectively. They are thrown in at
the deep end and told to swim, it can be pretty traumatic.
Studying doesn't have to be a chore when it's well organized.
Try reading some of the time management for students section.
I've recently started to explain my S S M R method.
It's a great way to get and stay focused on building a solid study foundation.
Over the coming weeks I'll be adding lots of extra information on this including
free forms and handouts to help you get the most from the system.

Well I’ve
worked for and with some of the biggest blue chip companies in the world,
including British Airway, Nokia, Motorola and others, on the most diverse
projects.
I’ve worked with small entrepreneurial companies. I’ve
managed small teams, large teams, multinational teams and everything else you
can imagine. I've successfully helped them all with their time management issues.
That's why I'm confident that the techniques here can help
you. I've seen them work in practise. All it needs is a bit of perseverance and consistency.
These
techniques have been used from snow topped mountains to computer filled software
development labs. The techniques are in use today and proving robust and
successful. So if you want to hear about what works at work - take a look at
time management in the workplace.

Yes! Lots. I love theory and learning, finding out
where stuff comes from but I do know it’s not for everyone.
Lots of people tell
me that they just want the answers and don't want to study for them and that's
fine by me. But if you do love theory I provide some in the
importance of
time management section.
Even if you just peek and decide it’s not for you I
think it's worth a look. Some of the theories, especially the Abraham Maslow
theory can really help to put life into perspective.

Yes. Remember time management is simply about getting things
under control. I know this makes it sound too simple. It is a hard fought
battle. You will need to persevere and commit to making changes if you
want to succeed. But if you do then you'll reap the rewards and reap them
quickly.
In today's world we're constantly pushed and pulled. There is
enormous pressure at work and at home to get things done and not just one thing
but lots of things. Getting your time management right is hard and can be very
stressful.
Well, whilst you're here at least, relax. This site has
answers that we can work through together. Don't try to do everything at once.
Don’t try to read through all the material or memorise the techniques. It takes
a while to get time under control. Remember it's taken me over 15 years to get
here so you won't master it all in a day.
Instead chill out and have a scan around. Find bits to dip
into and read through. When you find something you like read it in a bit more
depth. Let it sink in and then come back to it later, perhaps tomorrow, perhaps
next week. If you take your time you'll have fun and won't make the mistakes I
did.
Time has a nasty habit of making you feel you need to do it
all now. You don’t. You are in control not time. You decide what to do and when,
not time. If you go through the site and work on the techniques you will gain
time back. After a while you’ll find that you have more time to work on more time
saving time management techniques.
